The AVA VICTORIA, BC - GRAPPLING CHAMPIONSHIP is a Regional Tournament (1 x Placement Points)
Capacity: 400 Registrations
SUMMARY
AVA is a sub-only round robin tournament that offers the maximum number of matches to all competitors in the most competitive arena. Experience the pure form of grappling where submissions are the ultimate win.

Tournament Date:
· Adults & Masters, Youths Saturday May 13
Location: Lansdowne Middle School - 1765 Lansdowne Rd, Victoria, BC
Start Time: Doors will be open at 8am and tournament begins at 9am
REGISTRATION PRICES:
· $80 Early Bird (Deadline march 5)
· $95 Normal (Deadline April 23)
· $110 Late (Deadline May 7)
· $50 for additional Division
· $10/day for spectators
*IMPORTANT: All registration requests AFTER late registration deadline will be accommodated at twice the rate of the late registration price. We reserve the right to decline service to anyone, as allowed by our regulations and policies.
REFUNDS AND CREDITS policy
1. Refunds and credits are available by self-service until normal registration deadline. From the normal registration deadline until the late registration deadline, credits will be the only form of compensation.
2. Refunds and credits will not be issued for no-shows or withdrawal from participation due to sickness or injuries after the registration closing date.
3. In the event that a participant is left without a match-up, a full refund or credit shall be issued.
ROUND ROBIN
All competitors will be guaranteed a minimum of 2 fights and a maximum of 12 or more if you are entered in the Gi and Nogi divisions.
Round robin points system
Matches are won by submissions. The tournament is designed to incentivize submission wins in regulation time.
· Won by Submission in Regulation = 4 Points
· Won by Submission in Overtime = 2 Points
· Won by Fastest Escape (Applies only to overtime) = 1 Point
· Won by Decision = 1 Point
· Won by Walkover = 0 Point
· Won by No Show = 0 Point
· Won by Disqualification = 1 Point
The Tiebreaker Settings for Round Robin in order of priority are as follows:
1. Head-to-head: Direct match outcome between tied competitors.
2. Match points: Total points accumulated by each competitor.
3. Submission wins: Total number of matches won by submission.
4. Fastest submission: Shortest time taken to win by submission.
5. Fight time in won matches: Shorter total time spent in won matches.
6. Decision wins: Total number of matches won by decision.
7. Walkover wins: Total number of matches won due to opponent's forfeit or no-show.
8. Disqualification wins: Total number of matches won due to opponent's disqualification.

Arrival Instructions
· Proceed to the front door and check-in with our staff, who will provide you with a stamp for verification purposes.
· It is imperative that all competitors ensure they are weighed in and cleared to compete.
· In preparation for your first match, please proceed to the designated warm-up mats at least 30 minutes before the estimated start time of your match. This will allow our coordinators ample time to locate you and ensure that you are ready to compete. Failure to do so may result in a loss by no-show.

WHITE BELT 6 MONTHS & UNDER DIVISION
New to Jiu-jitsu? We have a 6 months and under White Belt Division to give new competitors the chance to compete fairly against other competitors new to Jiu-Jitsu.
PRO DIVISIONS
PRO PLACEMENT WINNERS
The grand prize money, split among the AVA Ultra tournament champions and the highest-ranked players of the season, is up for grabs. As more elite competitors sign up to battle during the season for the title of AVA Champion, the prize pool grows bigger. Get ready for an epic showdown as the top players compete fiercely for their share of the cash prize and the ultimate title of champion! The placement winners will take home a share of the prize money pool, which is built up throughout the year by each competitor in a Pro division contributing $50 from their registration.
AVA SEASON PRO WINNERS
The Pros battle for glory and cash as they compete throughout the season, accumulating ranking points in a fierce competition. Only the top placers will take home the ultimate prize of cash, as they rise to the top and claim their spot among the elite!
AVA ULTRA PRO WINNERS
The Pros will require to engage in fierce battles to earn enough points (4 or more needed) to advance to the ultimate showdown at the AVA Ultra, where they will compete for the grand prize in cash and the prestigious title of AVA Ultra Champion.
Prizes (how the prize is distributed among the winners):
· 1st place – 60%
· 2nd place – 35%
· 3rd place – 15%

RANKINGS
Season Rankings
Placement and match points are collected for each scoring athlete and teams for every tournament in the year.
Placement points (Regional x 1 placement points, Coastal x 2 placement points, Ultra x 3 placement points):
· 1st place – 9 points
· 2nd place – 3 points
· 3rd place – 1 point
The points are reset every year (with the exception of 2022/2023 as it was rolled out in October 2022.)
Ranking Prizes
For athletes:
· Certificate of achievement for top 3 placements in each category
For teams:
· #1 team name will be engraved on the AVA Ultra Cup
· 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placements receive an AVA Ultra trophy
BRACKETS AND ADJUSTMENTS
· The pre-schedule, along with the groups, will be available 5 days before the tournament
· Official brackets will be available 3 days before the tournament
· Adjustments are available by self-serve any time until the official brackets are made
WEIGH-INS
Competitors are permitted to weigh-in the day before the tournament at a scheduled time or on the day of their matches at least 45 minutes before their scheduled time of their match. (Gi not required for weigh-in).
There is a no exception 2 lbs. allowance.
If the competitor does not make weight the day before weigh-in, they will be permitted another weigh-in before their division starts.
If the competitor does not make weight before their division starts, they will be disqualified.
COACHES
There will be a chair provided for the coach of each competitor. The barricaded area is restricted to only staff, competitors, and registered coaches (1 coach/competitor).
Coach-to-Athlete Ratio:
· When there are 3 or fewer athletes, 1 coach will be provided.
· When there are between 4 and 6 athletes, 2 coaches will be provided.
· When there are between 7 and 12 athletes, 3 coaches will be provided.
· When there are between 13 and 18 athletes, 4 coaches will be provided.
· For every additional 6 athletes beyond 18, an additional coach will be provided.

WARM UP AREA
· a separate mat area will be provided for upcoming competitors in the divisions scheduled
· Ring coordinators will collect division athletes in this area. Please be present in this area before your scheduled match
· a 65” TV will be setup to display in real time up and coming matches
PODIUM AREA
· a 45” TV will be setup to display in real time the up-and-coming podium results
· Seating will be provided at the waiting area for placement athletes standing by
· a picture will be taken for each podium ceremony
· All placement athletes will receive a customized medal
FIRST AID
A medical team will be on-site to provide any necessary medical services.
TV SCOREBOARDS
Each mat will have a TV displaying the athlete names and match progress.
AVA STORE AND CONCESSION
Apparel, food, and drink will be available for purchase.
